My current obsession, is my Brian Atwood, Chain Strap backpack. It retails for $350, and can be purchased at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Neiman Marcus.
I freaked out over this bag the moment I spotted it on Elle.com. I was on a serious hunt to find its distributor, hand them my card, and purchase this chic little item until, this light bulb went off.
I started saying to myself, " This is a BACKPACK PURSE!"
Ever since Cher and Dionne carried them around in Clueless, the backpack purse has become synonymous with the 90's. I adore Cher and Dionne's style in Clueless; but some fashion enthusiasts suggest the backpack should stay on the backs of students, or stay in the 90's. Because of this opinion, the backpack purse unfortunately, has received the rep of being a trendy item, meaning it's not an investment piece.
NEGATIVE! Designers such as Brian Atwood, and Alexander Wang, are designing backpacks that are far...from trendy. Their backpacks, along with fellow designer's creations this season, have ditched the trendy stereotype, quickly becoming staple items.
After thinking long and hard about whether to purchase my backpack, I can confidently say that I'm happy with my choice. One of the main reasons I'm a fan of the backpack, is its versatility. It is so easy to carry and I can walk around hands free! Plus, the tassel and chain detailing is way too addicting. I highly recommend this one!
