Recently, our wrist have become the quote on quote, "It Body Part" of the fashion industry. Remember when we used to place a watch or one bracelet, on our wrist? Yes, just ONE bracelet! We didn't drown our wrist with assorted bangles, watches, studs, David Yurman cable bracelets, leather bands, and Herm'es cuffs, the list goes on.
I have to admit, when I first took notice of this layering trend, I wasn't a fan. It looked cluttered and well just TACKY. I asked myself, " Why combine every piece of arm candy I own, on my wrist?" To me, it just screamed gaudy and was a fashion faux pas, waiting to happen. Then for Christmas a couple years ago, my parents got me the Marc Jacobs Amy watch. I planned to keep my watch single, and not pair it with chunky bangles or leather wrap bands. However, I got curious, and wanted to try the stacking technique for myself. I took some bangles, a leather cuff, and layered them on top of my watch. I was presently surprised by how chic it looked!
Now I stack daily, I'll pair my stacks with button down oxford shirts, chunky knit sweaters, peplum dresses, it's extremely versatile. I haven't looked back, I honestly think this is one of the smartest trends out there. I don't find it to be tacky or overdone. If you want to try the stack, I highly recommend it.
Word of Caution: I know this sounds completely bazaar, but there are rules to layering your wrist appropriately. Whenever I layer my pieces, I stack according to weight, color, and wrist comfort.
You want your stacks to exude the 3 C's: Chic, Classic, and Cohesive. Please... don't combine a David Yurman bracelet, with concert wristbands; that you've been wearing for the past 7 weeks. Those don't count as jewelry, or stackable options, those belong in your keep sake box. Take these simple guidelines to heart, and you'll be stacking like a pro.
