Try Thakoon on for size

Hi everyone! Remember the Polyvore set I posted, featuring this jacket below? I promised to share the details about it soon, so here it is! This is my new Thakoon Addition JacketThakoon, was started in 2004, by designer Thakoon Panichgul, he was born in Thailand, raised in Omaha, and is currently based in New York. His design aesthetic focuses on innovative construction, with feminine spirt and elegance, but with a playfulness.

MORE DETAILS BELOW

I found this jacket a few weeks ago, during a designer sale. I wasn't searching for a jacket at the time, but it caught my attention in between the racks. It's definitely one of those gems you casually come across every now and then. It's a wool/leather blend, loose fitted, double breasted jacket. It has an asymmetrical double zipper, quilted leather in the front, zipped cuffs, and is fully lined.

It's a nice jacket to have on deck when you need the warmth of a coat, but not the burden of carrying one. In my opinion, you can never have too much outerwear, especially in Georgia where the weather is so topsy turvy.

CONT BELOW

I left early yesterday, to take the jacket out for a spin and take some snap shots for you guys. I wore my ripped black jeans, a black blouse, faux fur scarf, and over the knee boots. The jacket fits loose, but doesn't drape your body like it's too big/slouchy. It's a very flattering easy going piece. It's roomy enough to fit over sweaters without making you look stuffed, and you'll be twice as warm! I'd say its a very chic little number.

Tips for styling your leather jacket

Since we're on the topic of leather jackets today, I figured I'd share some style tips. I created a guide below, with a few everyday pieces that pair well with leather jackets. You probably have most of these in your closet already!

THE LAYERING BASICS
It doesn't matter what color, style, or fabric, you select, these are just simple pieces you can easily find, dress up or down, and layer. #1 T-shirt (crew or V-neck) #2 Chambray or White Button Down, #3 Stripped Shirt (of any kind) #4 turtlenecks, #5 sweaters

WHAT SHOES ARE YOU WEARING?
When wearing a leather jacket, your shoe selection is infinite. You can wear, sneakers, pumps, ankle boots, knee boots, flats, sandals, ANYTHING. For a casual look, I opt for the classic Converse Chuck Taylor Sneaker, and for a more polished look, I'll wear ankle boots and pumps. (You can also wear ankle boots for casual looks as well) Hope these tips helped!

And remember, when you wear a leather jacket, the fashion world is your oyster!

The only jacket that matters

                                                                    THE LEATHER JACKET

The leather jacket, is probably one of the most iconic pieces in your closet.  Its been a staple of American fashion for generations, and it looks like it's going to stay that way. Leather jackets are versatile, classic, edgy, and perfect for layering. They come in various styles, leathers, and if you invest in the right one, it'll last you decades.  Sometimes, all you need is a good pair of jeans, a basic shirt, a buttery leather jacket, and you're good to go!

So whether you already have a jacket, or you're thinking about investing in one, here's a list of a few retailers where you can find the perfect leather jacket for your style and price range: TopshopMadewellNordstromMango, and H&M

Try pairing your jacket with a white button down, some distressed jeans, and sneakers! It's quick, easy, and pure Americana.

Brr..it's cold out here

Its been pretty obvious Jack Frost has been MIA, for a while. So when I woke up this morning and saw frost on my car and heard it was 29 degrees, I was very pleased.

FINALLY,  I could wear coats that have been longing.. to see the light of day since November! I grabbed my fuzziest coat, velvet leggings, my go to ankle boots, and greeted the below freezing temps.

                                                          OUTFIT DETAILS

My coat is from Macys , I bought it four years ago, and it's one of the warmest coats I own. It has a  faux fur trimmed hood, that keeps my head toasty from gust of arctic Georgia wind lol.

I wore my mom's white cable knit sweater, from Talbots, and paired it with velvet leggings I found at Kohl's from their Simply Vera Wang Collection

The boots are from Target, and are super comfortable. I bought them last year, but Target always has great ankle boots, so I'm sure you can find a similar pair. The heel is a great height, it's not too pointy or chunky. They're great if you're on your feet for a long period of time. I'm always running around at work, and these offer enough support and comfort, without compromising style.

And last but not least my handbag, The Quilted Affair, by Rebecca Minkoff, and sunglasses from H&M

58 Degrees in Ga? I'll take it!

I'm so happy Georgia weather is slightly getting on track. The weather is so tricky here! It can be 50 degrees today, and almost 80 degrees tomorrow. Over the weekend, it was about 58 degrees and I couldn't have been happier. FINALLY I could wear fall clothes, and not look out of place!
Fifty Eight degrees isn't bone chilling, but it's a good excuse to pull out a light weight jacket, boots, and tights! I wore my Burberry quilted coat, a gray pullover from Marshall's, an asymmetrical skirt from H&M, my Prada Saffiano tote, and Nine West over the knee boots from Nordstrom.
