Watch Out

Watches are a must have in our daily fashion lives. In my opinion, an outfit isn't complete without a classic watch. One of my favorite watches is the Marc Jacobs Amy Watch, and it retails for $175.  I've had this watch for about 5yrs, and I blame it for my current watch obsession. It's such a simple and timeless (no pun intended), watch. It literally goes with everything. It's lightweight yet, very sturdy. I've banged this watch on countertops, car doors, tables, etc, and it's stayed in tack. It's one of Marc's most popular watches, I've seen so many women with this particular style. It's easy, elegant, and beautifully understated.
The Marc Jacobs Amy watch is sold at these retailers: Nordstrom (on sale), Bloomingdale's (on sale)  Macys , Marc Jacobs

Try Thakoon on for size

Hi everyone! Remember the Polyvore set I posted, featuring this jacket below? I promised to share the details about it soon, so here it is! This is my new Thakoon Addition JacketThakoon, was started in 2004, by designer Thakoon Panichgul, he was born in Thailand, raised in Omaha, and is currently based in New York. His design aesthetic focuses on innovative construction, with feminine spirt and elegance, but with a playfulness.

MORE DETAILS BELOW

I found this jacket a few weeks ago, during a designer sale. I wasn't searching for a jacket at the time, but it caught my attention in between the racks. It's definitely one of those gems you casually come across every now and then. It's a wool/leather blend, loose fitted, double breasted jacket. It has an asymmetrical double zipper, quilted leather in the front, zipped cuffs, and is fully lined.

It's a nice jacket to have on deck when you need the warmth of a coat, but not the burden of carrying one. In my opinion, you can never have too much outerwear, especially in Georgia where the weather is so topsy turvy.

CONT BELOW

I left early yesterday, to take the jacket out for a spin and take some snap shots for you guys. I wore my ripped black jeans, a black blouse, faux fur scarf, and over the knee boots. The jacket fits loose, but doesn't drape your body like it's too big/slouchy. It's a very flattering easy going piece. It's roomy enough to fit over sweaters without making you look stuffed, and you'll be twice as warm! I'd say its a very chic little number.

Check out Thakoon Addition, if you're looking for feminine and fun everyday wear! Thakoon is also sold at retailers:  NET-A-PORTERNeiman Marcus,  SHOPBOP, and Bergdorf Goodman

This is the Prestige Pointed Toe Pump, by Neiman Marcus. These pumps were about $200, and I paid $80 for them at Last Call. Tips for styling your leather jacket

Since we're on the topic of leather jackets today, I figured I'd share some style tips. I created a guide below, with a few everyday pieces that pair well with leather jackets. You probably have most of these in your closet already!

THE LAYERING BASICS
It doesn't matter what color, style, or fabric, you select, these are just simple pieces you can easily find, dress up or down, and layer. #1 T-shirt (crew or V-neck) #2 Chambray or White Button Down, #3 Stripped Shirt (of any kind) #4 turtlenecks, #5 sweaters

WHAT SHOES ARE YOU WEARING?
When wearing a leather jacket, your shoe selection is infinite. You can wear, sneakers, pumps, ankle boots, knee boots, flats, sandals, ANYTHING. For a casual look, I opt for the classic Converse Chuck Taylor Sneaker, and for a more polished look, I'll wear ankle boots and pumps. (You can also wear ankle boots for casual looks as well) Hope these tips helped!

And remember, when you wear a leather jacket, the fashion world is your oyster!

The only jacket that matters

                                                                    THE LEATHER JACKET

The leather jacket, is probably one of the most iconic pieces in your closet.  Its been a staple of American fashion for generations, and it looks like it's going to stay that way. Leather jackets are versatile, classic, edgy, and perfect for layering. They come in various styles, leathers, and if you invest in the right one, it'll last you decades.  Sometimes, all you need is a good pair of jeans, a basic shirt, a buttery leather jacket, and you're good to go!

So whether you already have a jacket, or you're thinking about investing in one, here's a list of a few retailers where you can find the perfect leather jacket for your style and price range: TopshopMadewellNordstromMango, and H&M

Try pairing your jacket with a white button down, some distressed jeans, and sneakers! It's quick, easy, and pure Americana.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide (For Her)

Can you believe Valentine's Day is right around the corner?!
Christmas isn't even a month away, and we're about to enter another holiday! Where did the time go?  Valentine's Day can be a tricky one. You don't always have to go the traditional route, and grab a box of chocolates and a giant bear. Although, I do love my box of Ferrero Rochers lol.

I decided to post a few of my top gifts for Valentine's Day, hopefully they'll give you some ideas. If you started searching for gifts, or you just want to spoil yourself, these stylish items will warm any heart!

I posted the gifts below, in the order they appear in the picture with the links.

Now where did I put my keys?

I received this nifty credit card case with key ring, from Neiman Marcus for $42. It's part of their collection of travel goods, consisting of cosmetic cases, jewelry pouches etc. Each piece is crafted from Saffiano leather, and comes in black, red, leopard print, and are sold individually.

FYI all travel accessories are currently on sale for under $50, and this credit card case is $22! Each little travel essential can be found at Neiman Marcus

                                                                  DETAILS
It fits about 6 cards, has a zipper slot for money, and is super slim and light weight. It's perfect for smaller bags or if you need a grab and go wallet.

The clear section in the back, is a great place to put your license & insurance card

Brr..it's cold out here

Its been pretty obvious Jack Frost has been MIA, for a while. So when I woke up this morning and saw frost on my car and heard it was 29 degrees, I was very pleased.

FINALLY,  I could wear coats that have been longing.. to see the light of day since November! I grabbed my fuzziest coat, velvet leggings, my go to ankle boots, and greeted the below freezing temps.

                                                          OUTFIT DETAILS

My coat is from Macys , I bought it four years ago, and it's one of the warmest coats I own. It has a  faux fur trimmed hood, that keeps my head toasty from gust of arctic Georgia wind lol.

I wore my mom's white cable knit sweater, from Talbots, and paired it with velvet leggings I found at Kohl's from their Simply Vera Wang Collection

The boots are from Target, and are super comfortable. I bought them last year, but Target always has great ankle boots, so I'm sure you can find a similar pair. The heel is a great height, it's not too pointy or chunky. They're great if you're on your feet for a long period of time. I'm always running around at work, and these offer enough support and comfort, without compromising style.

And last but not least my handbag, The Quilted Affair, by Rebecca Minkoff, and sunglasses from H&M

Make sure to follow me on Instagram and Pinterest @ bdarielle!

BAUBLEBAR FEVER

Have you heard of the jewelry site BaubleBar.com? To my surprise, a few people aren't familiar with it. GASP! I'm so addicted to this site, but if you haven't discovered this gem don't fret! I'm going to tell you all about it.

BaubleBar is an online jewelry site, that gives you access to the most coveted selection of chic fashion jewelry. They have everything from minimalistic chokers, to layering necklaces, to chunky cocktail rings. It's so captivating, the prices are perfect, the quality is great, and they partner with some of most notable people in fashion. You can revamp your jewelry box in seconds, and if you're a little stumped on how to layer a piece, they offer Service With Accessorizing Talent, aka their SWAT team. It's their group of stylist who are there to solve all of your accessorizing meltdowns. BaubleBar.com literally has every piece of jewelry you can think of for any occasion, or fashion preference.

One of the first items I purchased was this double pearl choker

I'm totally hooked. And although BaubleBar is an online retailer, they opened a store in the NY area. So if you're in the city, drop by and stock up on some chokers and midi rings!

Look out for my next post, where I'll debut my most recent BaubleBar purchase!

It's a Quilted Affair

For Christmas, I decided to buy the Rebecca Minkoff, Quilted Affair handbag. If you have followed me on the blog or Instagram, you know my weakness is a black handbag, detailed with gold hardware. It's like my kryptonite. I've been eyeing The Quilted Affair for about two years. It's a great take on the Chanel Flap bag, but with its own Minkoff twist.

If you're saving for the classic Chanel Flap like I am, The Quilted Affair is perfect if you want the Chanel appeal, at a designer price that won't break your young adult budget. The Quilted Affair comes in three sizes; the mini $195, the large $295 & the jumbo $350.

I bought the large affair above, for $295, and it fits a regular or small wallet, keys, some cosmetics, and your tech gadgets. It doesn't hold a water bottle, but I'm pretty sure their jumbo size should lol.
It's a great everyday bag that I can wear as a cross body or a shoulder, and the the chain is adjustable! You can find the Quilted Affair at Rebecca Minkoff, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales!

Go to dainty

I just adore this Tory Burch necklace I received for Christmas. I love how understated the Tory logo is, it's so effortless and timeless. The Tory T's are dainty & elegant without being too obvious. Sometimes items overly adorned with a designer's logo, can be a bit too intense. (Don't you think?)

It's the perfect length, stopping right at my collar bone. It can be dressed up or down, and won't clash with other jewelry if you decide to layer. Oh, and it just shines beautifully! I've already recieved so many compliments!

Effortless Fall

Ti's the season for go to pieces, timeless coats, never ending layers, and of course, boots! The best thing about fall style, is that it's completely effortless. It doesn't take a lot to have a great outfit. Who doesn't love getting dressed in an oversized sweater, your best skinnies, over the knee boots, and a statement handbag?!

Since we're on the topic of fall fashion.. lol, here's a recap of my fall ensemble from last weekend.  I went for an easy downtown look, the weather was kind of cloudy and cool, and I wanted to be comfortable in case it rained.

I wore my fave leather moto jacket from Nordstrom, my green oversized flannel and high riser skinnies from Madewell, a faux fur wrap from Target,  my Tory Burch Amanda Ridding Boots, and Warby Parker Maynard frames. What's your go to look fall?

BRAVO BALMAIN NATION!

www.vogue.in

At just 29, Olivier Rousteing has taken the fashion industry by storm, thanks to social media, a massive celeb following, and of course his talent & passion to unify the industry. I must say, he's doing a superb job. His hashtag, #BALMAINNATION has taken over social media like embellishments on a Balmain blazer.

On Tues night, his highly anticipated Balmain X H&M collection was revealed at a star studded launch party on Wall Street. The event included garments with embellishments galore, dances, music from The Backstreet Boys (I'll get to that awesome moment in a sec) & much more.

                                                             newyorktimes.com

Balmain "It" girls, Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn, Gigi Hadid, & Karlie Kloss strutted their Baroque inspired pieces down the runway, while onlookers such as, Alexa Chung & of course, Kendall's lil sis Kylie observed. Each piece showcased the designer's attention to detail, with his placement of each stud, pearl, gold trim, & sequin.

                                                                THE AFTER PARTY

Once the last model made her exit, attendees were soon given an epic performance from one of Olivier's faves, The Backstreet Boys! Nick, Brian, Howie, Kevin, & AJ, arrived in true Backstreet style, down a flight of steps, while decked out in Balmain X H&M. They performed three of their many hits, while models, fashion bloggers, designers, etc completely lost it.

FYI: This was not a BSB "reunion'' they've been together 20+ yrs, never broke up, plus they JUST ended a world tour. That's pretty amaze.

Red Carpet Ready

Well it's that time of yr again, awards season kicked off last night with The Emmys. Hollywood's finest gathered to give out the first of many gold plated statues, but we all know the most important part of the night goes to Red Carpet Fashion. Here's a list of my top 3 Emmy looks of the night! Let's get started shall we?

     Accesshollywood.com

Kerry Washington is known for being a red carpet trendsetter, with her off the runway looks & fashion risk. This Marc Jacobs number, just made its debut at New York Fashion Week, 3 days ago! So it's literally "off the runway". It fit Washington beautifully. The detailing was a mixture of metal & mesh, with a high slit. It gave the dress enough edge without creating a scandal (get it..? Lol), but just the right amount of glamour for the Emmys. Her strappy heels were Casadei & jewelry Harry Winston.

Elizabeth Moss
      usmagazine.com
Next we have Elizabeth Moss from Mad Men, in Oscar de la Renta & Beladora jewelry. I thought the fuchsia looked gorgeous on her, it was very Marilyn Monroe, "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" inspired.

January Jones
     eonline.com
January Jones of Mad Men, is another red carpet risk taker. Sometimes her looks can be a bit misunderstood, but her emerald Ulyana Sergeenko jumpsuit, was interpreted beautifully. Her jumpsuit was paired with Stuart Weitzman shoes & Tiffany & Co. jewelry.  Pants was an ongoing trend on the carpet last night, & Jones proved that the jumpsuit can be elegant & award show appropriate.

The Contents

I decided to dump my purse out, & channel my inner Annie Leibovitz for 15 minutes. These bag layouts aka flatlays, are all..over Instagram & I'm addicted to them. I truly see them as an art form.
Whenever I take flatlay pics, I question my sanity for a second lol. Im thinking, "Am I really standing on top of my bed, taking pics of what's in my bag?"
At the end of the day, everyone isn't going to understand the beauty of fashion photography. But the end result is well worth it! If you haven't tried a flatlay pic, I highly recommend it for your own fashion portfolio!

What's in my bag details: Handbag: Prada Mini Saffiano  Contents: Carven Le Parfume, Mascara: Rimmel London Mascara, Wallet: Marc Jacobs  Lip gloss & Cosmetic Case: Chanel, my grandmother's cross pendant, & car keys.
